If my friend asks me to recommend a book to him/ her, I don’t hesitate to recommend the novel Gone with the wind written by Margaret Mitchell.

Gone with the Wind is worth reading for many reasons. First of all, it is a classic novel of the world. It was popular with American readers from the onset and was the top American fiction bestseller in the year it was published. By today, more than 30 million copies have been printed worldwide. Secondly, the novel shaped many vivid characters, especially the leading character Scarlett. She was a charming woman with multiple personalities, which made her as lovely as hateful. Finally, the novel depicted the fascinating love story of Scarlett. Her love story was not very poetic and romantic like many other love stories; instead it was very realistic. But it is this kind of reality that attracts the readers.

The value of a good book cannot be emphasized too much. A good book is like a good friend, which will bring us life-long benefits. I hope my friend will love the novel Gone with the Wind and get benefits from reading it.

The City I’d Like to Visit

If I am given a chance for a travel to a city of China, the one I’d like most to visit is Su Zhou city, especially its Tongli town. It is a watery town with a long history.

Tongli is an ancient town and therefore it is not surprising that more than 40% buildings there can be traced back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Walking there, you could perceive the passing history and feel the pulse of time. There you could seek spiritual tranquility and slow down to enjoy life. Besides, many outstanding celebrities both in civil and military fields in the history, for example, Zhu Heling, Yuan Long have inspired a rich cultural atmosphere there. Tongli people are diligent, hard-working and well-educated. You will feel at home once you set feet on the land.

All in all, Tongli town has attracted millions of visitors with its beautiful scenery, but it has tried its best to keep its ancient charms from being dissolved by the streams of people. It is a town that deserves a trip.

The First Place I’d Like to See in France

If I have a chance to visit France, the first place I’d like to see is Paris. This idea can be explained by the following reasons.

First of all, Paris is the capital of France and is one of the most important political and cultural centers in the world. It has great influence on such fields as education, entertainment, fashion, science, media, arts and politics. Besides, there are many world-famous landmarks in Paris, for example, Musée du Louvre, Eiffel Tower, and Notre Dame and so on. You can not say that you have been to Paris without visiting these places. Moreover, Paris is a metropolis with strong artistic atmosphere, in which you can see wandering artists performing even on the street.

As litterateur Rilke once said that “Paris is an unparalleled city”, you can’t resist its beauty at the first time you see it. And I believe that you will love it as much as I do if you spend some time touring the whole city.
