The future direction of hkGalden

In my opinion, I think there will be more and more Hongkongers emigrating out of Hong Kong in the next few years [Waves of mass migrations from Hong Kong (香港移民潮)]. As a result, there will be a demand for a communication and social platform within the diaspora.

Currently, there are similar efforts done by Simon Cheng (鄭文傑) with his establishment of Hongkongers in Britain (). However, it is an organisation instead of a communication platform, and its scope is limited strictly to those who are in the UK. I have also yet to see similar societies in the US, EU, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, etc. amongst the anti-CCP Hongkongers (the Yellow Economic Circle). There are, of course, plently of these organisations within those who are pro-CCP (also known as Blue Ribbons).

As such, hkGalden could brand itself as an international platform for the Hong Kong diaspora around the world - mostly the Anglosphere and Japan. Here could be a community for anti-CCP Hongkongers to interact and socialise. Discussions could, for example, range from posting daily routine to searching for a home, from job advertising to political lobbying. There is also a large number of current members who are or have been living abroad, which matches the need for such forum.

In my opinion, I think hkGalden does not require any major revamping to serve the new direction. Perhaps at a later stage, tags can be created for organising posts from different countries.

I guess another concern is that some of the older users may not like the newcomers disturbing the harmony and vibe of the old hkGalden. In that case, I would suggest that a new board could be created within the forum, and only older users could comment on that board. That way, the community of the older users could be preserved without being overwhelmed by the newcomers (if any).

just don't reinvent the wheels. A Telegram group does suffice.

The English and Japanese tags are there, perhaps we are lacking members who can really start the conversion off and some others who feel comfortable to discuss and make some meaningful conversations.
